Creative gift wrapping ideas
Creative and unusual wrapping ideas for gifts for all occasions from mothers/fathers day, to baby showers, weddings etc.
If you’re tired or bored with the same old way of wrapping or presenting gifts, here are some unusual and creative gift wrapping ideas:
For a Bridal Shower or Kitchen Tea or House Warming Gift:
Wrap the gift in a dishcloth. Leaving the two ends free. Grab both ends and tie them up with a pot scourer that has a hole in the centre. Slip each end of the cloth through the hole in the pot scourers. The tied up ends should look like a Christmas cracker. Not only does the recipient get her gift, but the cloth and scourers can be used as well.
For a Mother's Day or Father's Day Gift:
Wrap the gift in ordinary plain white or plain colored paper, get the kids to do some art work in crayons or paints etc. and decorate the entire paper with the kids' art work.
Wrap the gift in ordinary plain white paper; get the kids to fill up the entire paper with their palm, foot and finger prints.
For a Wedding Gift:
Wrap the gift in foil wrapping paper, with the silver shiny side up. Now wrap the entire gift in a piece of fine lace. You can glue some pearl beads along the entire length of the ribbon and tie the ribbon around the gift.
Valentine's Gift:
Wrap the gift in foil wrapping. Make home made heart and cupid shaped chocolates, wrap them in foil paper and glue them all over the package.
A Valentines gift of lingerie or perfume, jewellery etc can be wrapped up in a silk scarf and tied off with a piece of costume jewellery like a brooch.
A Vase or Glass Platter as a Gift:
The vase must be a wide necked one. Instead of putting it in a box and wrapping the Vase in wrapping paper, fill the vase up with lemons, limes and oranges, if the vase is large enough and can accommodate these, if not use smaller fruits such as grapes or berries etc. Top it up with water till the vase is ? full. Put in a bunch of flowers and tie the neck of the vase with Raffia, braid or chiffon ribbon.
Place a candle in sand, in a glass vase or on a platter surrounded by shells, stones or petals.
Fill up a wide necked vase ? full of sand and tightly pack rose buds (or any other buds) into the top of the vase. Let the bud in the center be of a different color to the rest of the buds.
A Rectangular shaped Gift:
Wrap a rectangular package in white paper and draw red and blue blocks along all the edges to resemble an air mail envelope. Address the package as if it is an envelope that is to be posted. Include the return address as well as the airmail /par avion wording and the stamps.
Gift of Jewellery:
Wrap the Jewellery container in plain brown paper, which has been lightly sprayed with a gold color spray paint. Tie up the gift with a length of chain that can be bought by the meter, or a string of pearls that can be bought from a handicraft store.
Gifts for a baby shower:
Wrap the gift up in an inexpensive terry cloth diaper. Put in the gift and gather up all the ends of the diaper. Bring the ends up to a point, so that the gift resembles a bundle. Tie up the ‘bundle’ with baby ribbon through which pacifiers, or old-fashioned baby diaper pins etc. has been threaded.
A Gift of Chocolate/Cookies, Lingerie. etc:
Remove the chocolates or whatever the gift my be, from the box, and put them into a pretty tin container, which can be used again. Put some dried flowers or a few candy canes on the lid of the tin.
Gift of Lingerie
Make your own cracker. Place the Lingerie inside of the tube, which you can make from a thin, pliable piece of cardboard. Cover the entire tube with brightly colored crinkle paper, tie off the ends with ribbon or braid, so that it resembles a cracker. Stick shapes (cupids, hearts, stars etc), cut out from foil wrap all over the “cracker”.
All types of Gifts:
This works especially well if the gift is in a box. Wrap up the box in a plain, bright colored crinkle paper. Buy “gaudy”, bright and shiny braid, and wrap it around the gift, instead of using ribbons.
When using wrapping paper, especially babies wrapping paper that has teddies and dolls or wedding wrap, of a bridal couple etc, place little bows made of satin 3m ribbons and glue them all over the gift, or on the dolls or brides dress, or as a bow tie for the groom or teddy etc.
